Trainwork vs Coursera for Business

Coursera for Business is a catalogue of university-backed courses sold per seat per year. Trainwork is coached practice on your own work, sold once. If you want accredited credentials across many subjects, Coursera is the stronger buy. If you want a nontechnical team to actually use AI next week, practice transfers and video does not.

A subscription to roughly ten thousand courses from universities and companies, with admin tools and analytics. AI is one topic among many, and its AI courses are largely video lessons with quizzes, several of them taught by university faculty.

Price: Published at $399 per user per year for the Teams plan (5 to 499 users). Enterprise is quoted rather than published. Source, checked 2026-08-23. List prices change and are negotiated down at volume, so treat this as a starting point rather than a quote.

These are real. If one of them describes you, buy theirs. We would rather lose the sale than have you find this out after paying us.

  • You want credentials with a university's name on them. Ours is not accredited and theirs carry real institutional weight.
  • You need training across many subjects, not just AI. A single subscription covering finance, management and data is a genuinely different value proposition to ours.
  • You already buy Coursera for other reasons, in which case the AI courses are included and cost you nothing extra.
  • Your organisation requires completion tracking against a formal catalogue for compliance reasons.

  • Your people do not finish courses. Most do not, and a subscription that renews on people who stopped watching is the most common way training budget disappears.
  • You want the skill, not the certificate. Watching a good explanation of prompting is not the same as having written one for a message you actually had to send.
  • You do not want an annual per-seat commitment. Ours is one payment and there is nothing to renew or true up.
  • Your team is nontechnical and the catalogue is the problem rather than the solution. Twenty skills chosen for them beats ten thousand courses they have to pick from.

Is Trainwork cheaper than Coursera for Business?

For AI training specifically, yes, and the gap widens every year. Coursera for Business is published at $399 per user per year and renews. Trainwork is $99 per person, paid once. Coursera covers far more subjects, so the comparison is only fair if AI training is what you are buying.

Does Trainwork give an accredited certificate?

No. Trainwork issues its own Fluency Certificate with a public verification page, and we do not claim accreditation or award continuing education hours. Coursera's certificates carry university branding and in some cases academic credit. If the credential itself is what you need, that is a real reason to choose them.

Can we use both?

Plenty of companies would sensibly do that. Coursera for the breadth and the credentials, Trainwork for making AI actually land with the people who would never finish a course. They are not solving the same problem.

Trainwork is 15 skills at three coached conversations each, 45 in total, on your team's own work. See everything it teaches or why it is built as practice.
